Fourth and Final cut

What went well

We managed to make the titles a different colour so that they stand out from the background.

Issues

When we had edited our fourth cut, we found that there were a few mistakes we had made.

Timing

The length of the shots of josh getting ready will need to be re filmed. We will have to do this soon as it is a very important scene

Shots

The extra shot between finding the clone and the shot of their footsteps is too jumpy. It is clear that it was filmed on another day and in another location.

Improvements to make

• refilm some of the shots of Josh getting ready. Without camera movement.
• Add in an extra shot between the footsteps and finding the clone.

Learning comment

I have learnt the importance of lighting in a scene and the impact t can have on an audience as well as the credits. I have also learnt that the weather conditions when filming must be kept the same in one scene otherwise it does not provide a smooth film sequence.

Third Cut

• Added an extra scene of the protagonist getting ready to reinforce the idea of the film being a coming of age film, and to extend the opening sequence.
• Added a short scene between when they find the research lab and the clone by filming their feet walking to ensure that the scenes looked fluid
• Distributed the titles more evenly.
• Made sure the music continues when they are speaking

We managed to make our opening scene longer by adding a scene showing the protagonist getting ready.

Text

The text does not stand out as the lighting and text are too bright.

Shots

Some of the shots we took of the protagonist getting ready will need re filming as they were too long, and there was too much camera movement.

Sound
We still have not recorded the news reporters voice over. Also the fading of the music is too sudden.

Improvements to make

• Record the voice over of a reporter. This will give the audience a better insight to the narrative and allow us to experiment with cross cutting techniques.
• Change the colour of the text
• refilm some of the shots of Josh getting ready. Without camera movement.

Learning comment

Throughout filming I have learnt that is important to avoid camera movements. It is much better to do different shots from alternate angles then to follow something with the camera.

Second Cut

• Removed the word 'starring' from the titles.
• Moved the titles around
• Made the titles smaller.

What went well

We moved the titles so that the film title did not appear over two different shots. We also used adobe after effects to edit the colour of the clones eyes.

Issues

When we had edited our second cut, we found that there were a few mistakes we had made.

Timing

The cycling sequence is too fast in some areas.

Text

The text is still spread throughout the opening sequence unevenly. The credits are also in the wrong order. 

Shots

Some of the shots we took will need re filming as the angles we used were not suitable and their We still have not refilmed certain shots which means some of the footage is out of focus and our opening sequence is not long enough.

Improvements to make

• Add an extra scene of the protagonist getting ready to reinforce the idea of the film being a coming of age film, and to extend the opening sequence.

Throughout filming I have learnt that it is important to refer to other movie openings or title sequences when creating the titles. If we had done this the credits would not be in the wrong order.

Shot list

We had to correct our shot list and story board because they did not match our opening sequence. This is because we did not include enough shots and sometimes there were clear jumps in the footage. 

Learning comment 

From this i will now be able to go out and film immediately because i will know which shots i need to film and in what order.
